About this Project

This property in Trigg had been standing for some time and was starting to show the effects of years spent under the hot Perth sun and battling salt, sand and storms as part of its life in a seaside suburb. A full roof restoration was needed to bring the roof back to life, which involved restoring the tiles to their former glory and providing a long lasting, durable coating system to protect the roof for years to come.

The Problem

Over time the roof had become chipped and broken, allowing the possibility of leaks and waterproof issues. Tiles were chipped, pointing was breaking away and surface dirt, moss and lichen had started to break down the tiles even more.

What We Did

We started by inspecting the roof, using ladders to carefully access and evaluate the condition of the entire roof. Loose, chipped and broken tiles were removed and replaced with new tiles matching the existing colour to provide a sealed, waterproof roof. Ridge caps were re-bedded and re-pointed using a flexible mortar to provide better adhesion and resistance to shifting.

The roof was then carefully pressure cleaned using a high pressure 3000 PSI water blaster to remove surface dirt, moss, algae and lichen growing on the tiles. To sterilise the surface and help prevent regrowth of moss, algae and lichen, a specialist anti-fungal treatment was applied.

We then primed the surface using Dulux Acratex primer, before applying two coats of Acratex Roof Membrane in a colour that closely matched the existing tiles. The roof membrane was spray applied and will provide the roof with a waterproof, flexible, UV resistant coating that is built to last.

The Final Result

The project was completed in 3 and we were careful to keep disruption to the property and its occupants to a minimum. The restored roof has a durable, long-lasting finish with a 10 year guarantee on materials and workmanship. The improved look and long term weatherproofing means the roof will last for many more years.
