Project Overview
We recently completed a project for a homeowner in Mount Lawley. The roof was looking a bit dull and weathered. There was some chalking and a bit of paint loss. The home owner had noticed that the roof was fading and weathering over time. After several years in the coastal environment of Perth, the roof required a new coat of paint to not only make it look better, but to keep it that way.
The Problem
The coating that had been applied years ago had degraded. It was no longer protecting the roof from UV and weathering. It was fading, chalking and starting to peel in places. Without an effective protective coating in place, this problem would continue to get worse and get more costly. In addition, the roof just didn’t look that great. It was time for a change.
What We Did
Our team started by pressure cleaning the roof to get rid of any moss, dirt, lichens and all of the loose, flaky paint. We then prepared all surfaces, to ensure all loose or failed material was removed, to ensure a good coating bond. A Dulux Acratex primer was then applied to seal and prepare the surface.
Once the primer was dry, we then applied two coats of Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane in a colour of the home owners choice, via spray application. The high quality coating provides excellent UV resistance and salt resistance for many years to come.
The Result
The finished roof has a great looking refreshed appearance. This will significantly increase the kerb appeal of the home. The coating will provide years of weatherproofing, reducing maintenance and repair in future. It was a quick, easy and fuss-free process, with minimal disruption to the home owner.
